NATHAN PALMER

Written by Ricky Carroll

Despite suffering cup heartbreak this season, SE Dons have shown their immense resolve by securing back to back OBDSFL league titles. An integral part of that success has been Nathan Palmer!

Some say his attitude stinks, but I'm here to tell you why he is one of the best players in Sunday league football. Nathan is a problem for any opposition. It doesn't matter whether he's playing in the No.10 role, out wide or as a number 9.

Nathan is brilliant at driving at the defence when he plays as a number 10. He's also exceptional at running from deep beyond Zak Ansah and stretching the opposition defence. He's also scored many great goals for the Dons when running from deep - most notably against Kenningwell and Portland.

He's a nightmare for defenders when he plays out wide. He is direct - and can take on defenders on the outside or inside - leaving them for dead! He doesn't just stay out wide, even if that's where he starts. He can drift infield and exploit little pockets of space. Nathan has won the golden boot on two separate occasions for SE Dons when he's regularly been the number 9. His work rate and link-up play are superb, and his finishing ability is excellent!

Nathan seems to be most at home when he plays out wide. It seems to give him the most freedom. He can isolate fullbacks and run them ragged. He can drift infield to pick up little pockets of space. He's at his most deadly when he roams. It usually ends with him supplying a killer pass or popping up to score the match-winner!

When anyone has a conversation about the elite players in Sunday league, do not forget Nathan Palmer.
