HAMZA SEMAKULA

Written by Ricky Carroll

Hamza Semakula plays for Hendon football club in the Southern League Premier South. He also plays for Highgate Albion in the Barnet Sunday league. Anyone that has seen Hamza play will know what an exceptional talent he is! His ability to recycle the ball and keep attacks ticking over - is just one of his many attributes. He is brilliant to watch - gliding around the pitch effortlessly, picking up little pockets of space. He is just as intelligent off the ball as he is on it. He is a manager's dream. He's a great team player, with a superb first touch and passing ability - making him a serious problem for any opposition! He is outstanding at picking out that killer pass. His work rate is phenomenal on and off the ball. He has a unique ability - to carry the ball with grace but still be acutely aware of where his teammates are and the opposition players. His awareness is exceptional. He was influential in Highgate's demolition of Club Lewsey in the National cup. He ran the show that day. Everything good went through him. His ball retention and ability to get players like Soloman Ofori on the ball shone through that day. Hamza has been in great form for Hendon making 39 appearances. At only 20 years old, Hamza has the ability and time on his side to play at the highest level. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, he sustained a terrible injury tearing his ACL and the cartilage in his knee. Doctors have told him he needs surgery to repair the damage to play football again. Sustaining this kind of injury is a massive setback. But to happen at such a young age - when you're looking to climb up the football ladder is, without doubt, the brutal side of this beautiful game. The waitlist for this kind of surgery on the NHS is extensive. Hamza is hopeful of having the surgery privately - however, the cost for this type of surgery is around £15k. There is a GoFundMe page to help Hamza get the surgery he needs. Please donate - if you can to help this young baller get his promising career back on track. Any donations will be massively appreciated!
