What a season it's been for this young Metrogas team, winning the double - before narrowly going down 2-1 to Under The Radar in the Plumstead cup final - denying Metrogas a historic treble. Despite the disappointment of losing to UTR, Metrogas have had an unbelievable season. They have won 11 out of 11 league games. Their talisman James Dyer has been influential in their brilliant season, scoring 37 goals in 22 games.
James has an ability all attacking players crave - that's the ability to be in the right place at the right time. He showed this ability in the cup final against UTR - when the ball fell to him, he made no mistake directing it past the UTR defenders on the line.
He is not afraid to drop deep - and get on the ball and dictate the play. James is a wizard when he receives the ball. You never know what he's going to do. James can turn and run at the defence using his pace and trickery. He has made many defenders look ridiculous this season with his quick feet and vast skillset at his disposal.
His ability to turn - and then have the confidence to shoot from any angle or play that killer pass - makes James a unique player! He's that player every manager wants. He's mercurial and can change a game in seconds. As mentioned earlier, James is not afraid to drop deep and influence the game.
Against Bayswater in the Pete Smith Memorial cup final, he showed his scintillating talents in the 66th minute. A defender passed the ball to James - and before it touched the ground, he opened his body up and cushioned a beautiful through ball, which nearly resulted in a goal for Metrogas. What a pass! What a player! His goal in that final was classic James Dyer. He controlled a pass beautifully before turning the defender inside out. He then shifted the ball onto his left before firing an unstoppable 25-yard thunderbolt to make it 1-1!
James is a problem for any opposition. He can score the poacher's goals. He can drop deep and link the play up - or he can turn defenders inside out and score viral-worthy goals!
It's been a fairytale season for Metrogas, and this feels like the beginning of an unbelievable journey. They have an extremely talented squad, and when you have a player like James Dyer - the sky's the limit!
